Effective Communication When Writing Across the Curriculum

The concept of frame of reference and how students filter their own attitudes, and perceptions to create meaning is examined. Students then develop outlines focusing on three main areas of interests. They use their outline to create their speech as a 5-paragraph essay. The essays are given to our Writing Across the Curriculum Coordinator to assess the students' writing. However, the assignment for the students does not end there, because they create a Vision Board that supports their goals. As a result, the students examine many potential aspirations and narrow them down, to be more concise, and thus communicate effectively.
